She will continue to serve her clients for her AKAccounting Solutions business as well.</p>
<p>Amanda has submitted her resignation from the Chamber board. She has been a very active board member since she joined the Chamber board in summer 2012 to fill a vacated position. She was re-elected to the board last November. During the past four months, Amanda has voluntarily offered her time, service and expertise as the Chamber board treasurer and has handled all of the Chamber’s bookkeeping and accounting needs along with many other daily Chamber-related tasks during this time of transition. She also served as co-chair for the Chamber’s golf outing last September.</p>
<p>In addition to running her own accounting business for the past three years, Amanda is a Sartell native who graduated from Sartell High School. Amanda and her husband Andy recently built a new home in Sartell along with their 3-year-old daughter Piper.</p>
<p>Besides her Chamber volunteer efforts, Amanda also was the 2012 chair of the Sartell Summerfest Planning Committee. She is committed to making sure her daughter has all of the great opportunities she had growing up in Sartell.</p>

While so many of us were filled with hope about the potential rebuilding and renewed operations there, yesterday's news was one of the saddest days in the city. As some of you may recall, I spoke with great emotion about the importance of the mill and what it meant to the city. I remain overwhelmed by yesterday's announcement, but also accept the reality of Verso's business decision.</p>
<p>A task force is meeting to discuss a plan of attack to deal with the needs of those workers that lost their jobs and the potential future use of that property. We have greatly appreciated the support from so many and have leaders from the federal, state and local level all meeting to assist in making the best we can come the tragic situation.</p>
<p>We have grieved over the loss of life and now the loss of these jobs that provided a livelihood to so many families for generations. Your continued support and prayers to those families effected by this life change is also greatly appreciated.</p>

<p>A Beatles Tribute band will be playing. There will be burgers, brats, hot dogs, pizza and beverages for sale&nbsp;as well as a raffle and auction to raise money.&nbsp; This is a&nbsp;free event to attend. </p>

<p>Things are heating up for Can-Am 2012 Games with opening ceremonies just around the corner. The Opening Ceremony is from 5:30-10:30 p.m. June 24 at Husky Stadium, on the St. Cloud State University campus, and includes lighting of the torch, SWAT and K-9 demonstrations, concessions and MGDL beer gardens, fireworks and live music by DiamondBack.</p>
<p>Adult tickets are $5 in advance, $10 at the gate. Children 12 and younger are free. Tickets are available at Leighton Broadcasting, St. Cloud Best Western Kelly Inn and St. Cloud City Hall.<br />
Main events throughout the week include:<br />
· The Toughest Firefighter Alive/Toughest Competitor Alive.<br />
· The K-9, SWAT and shooting competitions.<br />
· The Chili Cook-Off — inspired from firefighters trying to impress their co-workers when assigned to make dinner in the station.<br />
Eligible participants include (active and retired) personnel and spouses of: all sworn state/provincial, county municipal and military law enforcement officers, corrections officers and dispatchers, police reservists and cadets, fire service and EMS personnel.<br />

This year's scholarship winners are: Amanda Marinicic (plans to attend St. Thomas University), Troy Monson (plans to attend Bemidiji State University), Brian Partch (plans to attend Hamline University) and Kiley Sullivan (plans to attend University of Wisconsin-Madion).&nbsp; These four students were honored at the June 12th general membership meeting and each award winner received a $500 scholarship.<br />

Our area will be in the warm sector with the warm front possibly overhead with a cold front approaching from the west, leading to strong/severe storms forming by mid to late afternoon. Early in the storm process, supercells with tornadoes are possible, though the trend right now looks like we will have severe winds with large, possibly very large, hail. Bowing segments and possibly embedded supercells look like the dominant mode through late evening.</p>
